New York gym membership cancellation laws

New York lets you cancel within 3 days of signing. You can also cancel at any time if you move 25+ miles from any of the seller's clubs, have a significant doctor-documented disability lasting more than 3 months, or the club stops offering the contracted services. Clubs must accept cancellation by website, email, phone, mail or in person.

Verify with your gym:
  • The NY Attorney General's summary doesn't list death as a separate ground. Check § 624 and your contract if you are cancelling for a deceased member.
