The 4 steps that work almost everywhere
- Find your agreement. It names the cancellation method, address and notice period.
- Use the gym's method, plus a written letter. If you cancel online or in person, still send written notice for proof.
- Send it trackably. USPS Certified Mail, with a return receipt if you want proof of delivery.
- Watch your statement. If you're billed after a valid cancellation, contact the gym with proof, then your bank.
Know your state's rights
Many states give you a short cooling-off period after signing, and some let you cancel if you move far away or become disabled. See the state laws.
